As a fire service member serving in a multitude of capacities ranging from the volunteer fire house to state boards, I have been blessed to serve in the best profession in the world since 1998. I find my passion to be in the areas of fire prevention. Watching a neighbor’s home burn across the street at the age of 8 and participating in a 4-H fire safety bowl at a young age, I was intrigued by the work done by firefighters. Intending to be a teacher, God had different plans for me. I am glad he knows what’s best for me.
My goal is to leave this profession better than when I came into it. I still get excited seeing the big red trucks roll emergency traffic down the road. I pray I never lose that passion. What inspires me is the fact that I know I will never be out of work. So many in the fire prevention arena have a desire to see zero fire losses, injuries, and fatalities, I realize that is an unrealistic statement. So, I come to work and leave hoping I made a difference each day. Henry Ford said it best: "Obstacles are those frightful things that you see when you take your eyes off your goal."
What genres of music do you like best? Classic country, Christian Music
What is your favorite food? --- anything with carbs
How do you like to spend your free time? Cooking and yard work.
What is your favorite holiday? Has to be Christmas. The best gift of Jesus and time with family.
What is your favorite type of grill/smoker to cook on? (Griddle, Oven, Campfire, Pellet, charcoal, gas, stick Grill/smoker, or other.) I love my Blackstone and my Pit Boss ain't bad either.
Favorite Superhero: I would have to say my wife. she is amazing and does amazing feats every day!
Favorite Sport’s Team: Has to be my NC State Wolfpack!
